Qatar's new international airport, built at a cost of $15.5 billion, welcomed its first commercial flight on April 30. Named after Qatar's former emir, the Hamad International Airport will replace the Doha International Airport from May 27. It will be able to handle 30 million passengers a year and officials hope this number will grow to 50 million by the time the airport grows to full capacity in 2020.
